RCHNK stands for Robert Cazimero & Halau Na Kamalei. This 2000 release showcases a concept that Robert basically invented, the hula halau as choral group. His exclusively male halau, formerly known as The Gentlemen of Na Kamalei, contains some fine voices. Cazimero is a brilliant choral writer, arranger and piano accompanist. RUC stands for Robert Uluwehi Cazimero. This 19-cut recording is a two-album for the price of one CD special from Mountain Apple Company, containing the best of Cazimeros' first two solo albums, which are no longer in release. Robert has won individual Na Hoku Hanohano awards as Best Male Artist for "Brothers Cazimero In Concert" in 1978 and Best Male Vocalist for "Robert Cazimero" in 1979, one of the releases anthologized here. His expressive tenor voice has an expansive, operatic quality and power unmatched in Hawaiian music.
