Hawaii's musical odd couple, Barry Flanagan, an Irish New Yorker who speaks and writes fluent Hawaiian, and Keli'i Kaneali'i, a Hawaiian from Maui, blend their voices and talents in perfect synergy. Hapa - Barry and Keli'i are an odd pairing and this CD is a mixed bag, as well: Christmas standards such as "The Christmas Song," instrumental versions of Yuletide standards such as "Mele Kalikimaka," a remake of the Chris DeBurgh pop hit "The Lady in Red" and an instrumental version of the Hawaiian himeni (hymn) "Kanaka Waiwai." Both eclectic and excellent.
